had my last class ever on friday.
Still caught up with assignments and getting quite frustrated about it. I just want it all to end. but then what? I dont know. caught between wanting everything to end, and start planning for my mom and sis's arrival this friday. but for everything not to end. I like school. I really do. Sigh. I dont know.
I met Pat's family the other day for Mother's Day celebration. it was coincidental that I got invited. his grandma needed help with her electrical stuff, and he was sending me home. so he dropped by her place, and his grandma went "is that Bernice? nice to meet you!" aww. how sweet. and then she proceeded to ask me if I'll like to go to their family gathering happening at Uncle Mike's place. Pat was all "You're not obliged to go. Relax" and I'm so glad I shoved my anxieties deep into the back of my mind, so I could enjoy what an American/German gathering was like.
IT'S THE SAME.
hahah. the not so subtle mocking of family members, the sharing of food, the laughing, the messing with your younger cousins. I dont know why he was dreading it all the way, and so were his brothers. who look nothing like him, and you'll have to really stare at them to see the resemblance. haha. it's so cute that they all look so different. Pat's the Endomorph blonde hair, blue-eyed, bearded, has to work out a lot to get his stocky build. the second brother is an Ectomorph brunette, long silky hair, lanky guy who saunters. and third brother is a Mesomorph, all dark hair, mustache and goatee, and stocky, broad shoulders slim waist. very interesting looking set of siblings. completely German too. both parents are full German whose parents came to America, and kinda figured life out here.
much like pot luck. everyone brought something, their German Roulade, which came with gravy, and you'll eat them with boiled potatoes, or egg noodles, and buttered carrots with parsley. and because Pat's dad's the baker, we had strawberries and cream cake, and marble cake.
I stuffed myself silly. it was all so good. home cooked food will never be bad.
his aunt Paula asked how we met, and then what I'm doing, and then when they realized I was a tourist in their country, everyone started suggesting places which Pat should bring me to visit while I'm here. haha. his mom was all "Pat! the drive in movie? that's the most american thing! you have to bring her..." haha. I just sat there, amused at how everyone was looking at Pat like he was such a disappointment for not doing anything to let me experience the American lifestyle. haha. he's already done so much :)
so grateful to this crazy person.
